Three passengers were killed when a bus drove off the road at E6 in Namsskogan, in Nord-Trøndelag county in Norway. A total of 16 passengers and one driver was on board the bus when the accident happened.

The police got the first report of the accident at 12.00 p.m. The crash happend six kilometers north of Trones in Namsskogan. The bus was going south on the highway, according to the police.

Swiss tourists

The police reports that the bus is a tourist bus carrying Swiss tourists. The Swiss embassy in Oslo has been informed.

- We have been informed by the police about the accident. We do not know anything about the passengers yet, said Heidi Andersson, spokeswoman at the Embassy of Switzerland in Oslo.

One critically injured

Stein Erik Granli, local police officer at Namsos County Police Department, said that the injured are taken care of by health personnel.

- One person is critically injured, while the others have minor injuries, Granli said.

The person with critical injuries was transported to St. Olavs Hospital in Trondheim by helicopter. The other passengers were sent to Sykehuset Namsos.

Crisis team ready

The police do not know the cause of the accident. There are no signs of any other vehicle being involved in the accident.

The local hospital in Namsos has instructed every available health personnel back to work, while Namsskogan municipality has put up a crisis team. The crisis team will take care of those who were directly involved in the accident as well as their relatives.
